Position Overview:
Reporting to the Sr Director of IT, the SAP S/4HANA Subject Matter Expert (SME) will serve as a senior functional and technical authority for SAP S/4HANA Finance, partnering closely with Finance, IT, and business stakeholders to support, optimize, and evolve financial processes and system capabilities. This role acts as a key bridge between Finance and IT, ensuring SAP solutions align with business objectives, financial controls, and enterprise architecture standards.

The SME will support ongoing operations, lead enhancements, and play a critical role in SAP S/4HANA and Ariba transformation initiatives.

This is a hybrid role with several days per week in the Burlington, MA office.

Key Responsibilities:
SAP S/4HANA Finance Leadership and Support
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert for SAP S/4HANA Finance, providing deep expertise across core financial processes and system capabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Finance and IT leaders on SAP S/4HANA best practices, roadmap decisions, and system design options.
  • Support and optimize SAP Finance processes, including Financial Accounting (FI), Controlling (CO), Accounts Payable (AP), and Month‑end close activities.
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders to translate business requirements into functional and technical SAP solutions.
IT Systems Delivery and Stakeholder Support
  • Provide functional guidance during system configuration, enhancements, testing, and deployment activities.
  • Ensure SAP Finance solutions comply with internal controls, financial policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and review functional designs, configuration documentation, test scripts, and process documentation.
  • Support user training and change management activities related to SAP Finance processes and system changes.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5–8+ years of hands‑on experience supporting SAP Finance solutions, including SAP S/4HANA and Ariba.
  • Strong functional expertise in SAP S/4HANA Finance (FI/CO, AP, AR, Asset Accounting).
  • Proven experience working as the liaison between Finance and IT in complex enterprise environments.
  • Experience supporting global or multi‑entity finance operations.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of end‑to‑end finance processes and financial close cycles
  • Ability to translate business requirements into scalable SAP solutions
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and documentation skills

The expected salary range for this position based on greater Boston, MA location is $160,000-200,000. Actual salary pay will be based on multiple factors, including geographic location, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
