About This Position
Job Title: Childcare Center Cook (Full-Time)
Are you passionate about nutrition and making a difference in the lives of children? Sunshine ELC is looking for a dedicated, organized, and positive Full-Time Cook to join our team! We aren’t just looking for someone to prep food; we’re looking for a culinary professional who takes pride in providing healthy, appealing, and safe meals for our students.
What You’ll Do
As our Lead Cook, you will be the heart of our kitchen, ensuring that every child receives nutritious meals that meet the highest safety and USDA standards.
Meal Prep & Nutrition: Prepare delicious, kid-friendly meals following USDA menus and portion sizes for various age groups.
Safety First: Maintain a sparkling clean kitchen. You’ll handle everything from daily sanitation and dishwashing to monthly deep cleans of equipment.
Logistics & Delivery: Ensure breakfast, lunch, and snacks are ready and labeled for our various classrooms daily and delivered to classrooms with a focus on age-appropriate presentation.
Kitchen Management: Manage inventory, create weekly shopping lists, and ensure all food storage areas are organized and labeled.
Professional Growth: Participate in 20 hours of continuing education annually to stay sharp on safety and nutrition trends.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: At least 1 year of experience cooking for large groups or professional culinary training.
Compliance: You must be registered in the Oregon Central Background Registry and hold a valid Food Handlers Card.
Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift 40+ lbs, kneel, and climb stairs.
Team Player: A positive, respectful attitude is a must! We value clear communication and a "can-do" spirit, including a willingness to help in classrooms if needed.
Position Details
Type: Full-Time
Wage: $20-25 per hour (DOE)
Location: 2816 SE Harrison Street, Milwaukie, Oregon 97222
Schedule: Monday–Friday 7:15-4:15(Flexible) (No late nights or weekends, except for occasional special events)
