About This Position

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Compliance Specialist serves as the operational owner of the company’s TSA (IAC) and FMC regulatory programs. This role is responsible for day-to-day regulatory oversight, training implementation, shipment clearance governance, audit readiness, and continuous process improvement across all branches. Leveraging deep freight forwarding operational experience, this position ensures regulatory compliance is fully integrated into shipment workflows while protecting the organization from regulatory, financial, and reputational risk.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

TSA Program Ownership (IAC)

  • Administer and maintain the TSA Indirect Air Carrier (IAC) program.
  • Oversee day-to-day cargo security clearances and screening compliance.
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to TSA requirements.
  • Implement and track all TSA-required training across branches.
  • Maintain AR records and IACMS/Veroot updates.
  • Update Branch Binders Monthly for TSA audits and inspections.
  • Develop and execute corrective action plans when required.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve shipment security processes.
  • Internal Audits on semiannual basis
  • Collaborate with operations teams to strengthen supply chain security.

FMC Compliance Oversight

  • Support maintenance of FMC through internal branch auditing on semiannual basis.
  • Assist with regulatory inquiries and documentation reviews.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure contractual compliance alignment.

CTPAT & Security Integration

  • Support maintenance of CTPAT compliance standards.
  • Conduct internal reviews and security gap assessments.
  • Maintain validation documentation and readiness.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to strengthen supply chain security.

Process Improvement & Operational Integration

  • Standardize compliance procedures across branches.
  • Identify inefficiencies in clearance workflows and implement improvements.
  • Develop and update SOPs to align compliance with operational execution.
  • Partner with operations to drive consistent regulatory adherence.
  • Oversee denied party systems clearances.

EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and extensive freight forwarding operational experience.
  • 7+ years of freight forwarding operational experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of TSA IAC requirements.
  • Familiarity with FMC regulations and maritime compliance.
  • Experience with CTPAT security standards.
  • Experience managing audits or regulatory inspections.
  • Strong documentation, training, and process improvement skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Safely and successfully performs the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged period of time in office environment, desk setting
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
