Nurse Assistant-Certified at Kimball County Hospital – Kimball, Nebraska

Position Overview

Kimball Health Services is seeking a compassionate and dependable Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our patient care team. The CNA provides direct, hands-on care to patients under the direction of licensed nursing staff, ensuring comfort, safety, and dignity throughout their stay.

This position plays a vital role in supporting both patients and nursing staff while helping maintain a safe and therapeutic hospital environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide personal care including hygiene, grooming, feeding assistance, repositioning, and mobility support
• Answer call lights and promptly respond to patient needs
• Take and document vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, height, weight, intake/output)
• Assist with EKGs, blood glucose checks, and oxygen/nebulizer support (as directed)
• Support admissions and discharges
• Maintain clean, organized patient rooms and nursing units
• Follow infection control, Universal Precautions, and HIPAA guidelines
• Perform unit clerk duties when needed, including patient registration, logging EKGs, and answering phones

Education & Experience

Completion of a state-approved Nurse Assistant course (CNA certification required)

OR

3–6 months of experience as a nursing assistant

Skills & Abilities

Ability to read and write in English

Basic math skills

Strong communication skills

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Sound judgment and problem-solving in routine patient care situations

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk frequently throughout shift

Frequent lifting up to 25 lbs; occasional lifting up to 50 lbs

Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and assist with patient transfers

Visual ability to safely monitor patients and equipment

Work Environment

Exposure to infectious diseases and healthcare-related hazards

Moderate noise level

Compliance with hospital safety and infection control policies
