Soccer Forward Overview

Soccer Forward, U.S. Soccer’s 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup legacy initiative, is dedicated to improving lives and strengthening communities through the most accessible sport in America. Soccer Forward will be partner focused and driven and staff will engage with key stakeholders in the world of soccer, such as FIFA, Concacaf, NWSL, and MLS, as well as with U.S. Soccer member organizations.

The Soccer Forward team will create innovative and thoughtful strategies on how Soccer Forward can contribute to U.S. Soccer’s sponsors, media partners and donors. The team will organize, engage, manage and develop relationships with key community and charitable partners, particularly at a national and global level.

Position Overview

This role provides operational support to the Program Lead and will play a key role in ensuring the successful execution and scaling of the Soccer at Schools initiative. The Program Coordinator, Soccer at Schools will support the implementation and day-to-day coordination of a nationwide initiative designed to expand access to soccer in schools across the United States.

Working closely with the Program Lead, this role will assist in coordinating program logistics, managing timelines and documentation, supporting partner engagement, and helping ensure successful delivery of educational resources, teacher trainings, equipment distribution, and grants.

The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with educators, nonprofit partners, internal U.S. Soccer teams, and corporate supporters to help scale the Soccer at Schools initiative and ensure smooth program operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about expanding access to soccer for young people.

Position Impact

The Soccer at Schools initiative is designed to expand access to soccer in elementary and middle schools across the United States, supporting educators with resources, equipment, and training that make the game accessible to all students. Through Soccer Forward, this program will play a key role in building a lasting participation legacy around the 2026 FIFA World Cup, helping introduce millions of young people to the game in school environments where they learn, play, and grow.

Success in this role will help:

  • Expand soccer access in schools nationwide
  • Equip educators with tools and training to confidently teach the game
  • Build meaningful partnerships with schools, nonprofit organizations, and soccer stakeholders
  • Demonstrate measurable impact through participation, educator engagement, and community reach
  • This role will contribute directly to scaling one of U.S. Soccer’s flagship youth participation initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Execution

  • Support the implementation of the Soccer at Schools initiative by coordinating program logistics, resources, and materials.
  • Assist in managing equipment kit distribution, teacher training logistics, and program resource management.
  • Maintain program documentation, track key milestones, and support the management of digital tools and platforms used for program delivery.
  • Collect and organize program data to support measurement, evaluation, and reporting efforts.

Partnerships & Collaboration

  • Support communication and coordination with program partners including schools, educators, grassroots organizations, and community partners.
  • Assist in facilitating outreach and communication with U.S. Soccer member organizations and Soccer Forward partners.
  • Collaborate to prepare materials, presentations, and meeting agendas for partner engagements and advisory council meetings.
  • Support corporate partner integration by assisting with program updates, activations, and related materials.

Project Management & Administration

  • Maintain project timelines and track program deliverables to support efficient program execution.
  • Assist with administrative coordination including scheduling meetings, organizing documents, and managing program records.
  • Support grant administration processes including application tracking, documentation management, and communication with applicants.
  • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and program summaries for internal and external stakeholders.

Storytelling & Communications

  • Gather program updates, success stories, and testimonials from participating schools and partners.
  • Support the preparation of content, presentations, and program materials for internal and external communications.
  • Collaborate with U.S. Soccer’s marketing and communications teams to highlight program impact and milestones.
  • Assist with documenting program activities through photos, quotes, and other storytelling assets.
Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in program coordination, nonprofit programs, education initiatives, youth sports, or community-based programs.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and partners.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for soccer and a commitment to advancing equity, access, and inclusion through sport.
  • Must be able to connect “micro” details to the “macro” vision and mission.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings and weekends and travel domestically as needed.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the U.S. education system and/or youth sports programming pathways.
  • Experience working with schools, physical education programs, after-school programs, or youth-serving organizations.
  • Experience supporting program implementation involving schools, educators, or community partners.
  • Experience coordinating events, trainings, or workshops.
  • Comfort working with digital collaboration tools and learning platforms.
  • Interest in soccer development, grassroots programs, or school-based athletics.
