The Opportunity
Vessel is growing rapidly, with scores of projects in planning, and we’re looking for an exceptional Cost Accountant to join the team. In this role, you will support the financial operations of our York manufacturing facility and help scale those operations across potential future plants, helping drive cost visibility and discipline across plant operations. Working closely with project managers and leadership, you will oversee cost tracking across materials, labor, and overhead, support inventory and cost of goods sold processes, and analyze variances to ensure projects are tracked accurately and efficiently.
What You'll Do
- Track and analyze product costs across materials, labor, and overhead for the York manufacturing facility
- Maintain and update standard costs and support periodic re-costing processes
- Perform variance analysis (actual vs. standard, budget vs. actual; materials, labor, overhead, and PPV) and provide clear insights into cost drivers
- Support inventory valuation, including WIP, cycle counts, and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and integrity
- Assist with month-end close activities related to cost of goods sold, inventory, and plant reporting
- Maintain and validate BOMs, routings, labor standards, and overhead rates
- Partner with operations, sourcing, and materials teams to monitor cost performance and identify cost savings opportunities
- Provide cost data and analysis to support pricing, margin, and operational decision-making
- Help build and maintain scalable cost tracking processes and ensure accuracy, consistency, and transparency of cost data across systems
Who You Are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in accounting, exposure to manufacturing or cost accounting environments is a plus
- Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory accounting, and cost of goods sold
- Experience performing variance analysis across materials, labor, and overhead
- Familiarity with BOMs, routings, and manufacturing cost structures
- Working knowledge of GAAP and inventory accounting principles
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems
- Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with operations and translating data into actionable insights
