About This Position
SUMMARY: Must perform all operational responsibilities independently, within the Mobile Unit Pharmacy. Operations must be in alignment with State & Federal laws, regulations, and standards regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services, and Divisional Pharmacy objectives, policies and procedures. Assists the Pharmacy management team and Pharmacist In Charge with the development and implementation of strategic initiatives to better the day-to-day operations within the mobile unit. Independently, compounds, prepares, dispenses medications, and maintains control of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies in the mobile setting.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: NOTE: Following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. However, employees may perform other related duties at an equivalent level. Not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each individual in the classification.
- Primary work location will be on a Mobile Van, registered with California Board of Pharmacy.
- Maintain high standards within the department and translate pharmacy policies and procedures into the daily operation of the pharmacy in accordance with regulatory agencies.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacists, providers and other team member representatives from Alameda County Healthcare for the Homeless and Alameda Health System.
- Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
- Keeps informed of new drugs and pharmaceutical developments; services as a pharmaceutical consultant to medical and nursing staff.
- Conduct medication reconciliation, disease state management and medication therapy management, medication synchronization, adherence improvement work.
- Fulfill duties related to pharmacy operations, under purview and compliance of all regulations including but not limited to California Board of Pharmacy, Drug Enforcement Administration, The Joint Commission, HRSA-340B
- Maintain all record files received for each workday and after the shift, transfer records for each day into the licensed pharmacy.
- Transport all dangerous drugs from the mobile unit into the licensed pharmacy each day, to not leave any dangerous medications in the mobile unit when closing.
- Maintain, transport, receive, purchase and store medication stock.
- Review the proper storage of drugs within the mobile unit pharmacy; removes all outdated medications if present.
- Assist the pharmacy management team to define performance objectives and metrics for the department.
- Maintain an orderly workflow for all medication dispensing activities in the Mobile Unit. Ensures timely deliveries of all medications.
- New program/project development: In conjunction with the pharmacy management team to determine feasibility of new services and implement changes in programs/services.
- Promote effective working relationships and works effectively as part of a department/unit team inter and intra departmentally to facilitate the department's/unit's ability to meet its goals and objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education: Doctor of Pharmacy required. Advanced degree.
Required Education: Approved American Society of Health-System Pharmacist residency preferred or advanced practice pharmacist credential. If no residency or advanced practice pharmacists' credential, must obtain APP within 1 year of employment.
Required Licenses/Certifications: CPI -Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (required for all positions at John George Psychiatric Pavilion; and certain positions in the Emergency Department).
Required Licenses/Certifications: Possession of a valid pharmacist license, in good standing, to practice in California.
Required License/Certificates: valid California Class C driver’s license and good driving record.
PAY RANGE: $90.27 - $109.10/hr
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licenses and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
