Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant

Supervisor: CNA Supervisor and Director of Nursing

Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct and indirect patient care as directed by the nursing plan of care, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsible for registering patients that come in for hospital services, gathering all demographic and insurance information in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Cozad Community Health System.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs responsibilities related to the provision of patient care.
  • Performs hourly patient rounding for all assigned patients.
  • Responds in a timely manner to patient/family concerns and provides immediate interventions when possible.
  • Administers scope of practice treatments and procedures in a timely and safe manner according to physician orders and nursing policy, using standard precautions.
  • Implements infectious disease controls including isolation, proper hand washing, and PPE.
  • Performs and maintains documentation.
  • Provides quality healthcare services to all patients and participates in providing quality metrics.
  • Processes admissions of patients for hospital services.
  • Ensures Worker’s Compensation/Motor Vehicle Accident information is completed appropriately and timely.
  • Assists with answering incoming calls.
  • Follows all HIPAA guidelines and promotes and ensures patient safety.
  • Fulfills mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive and professional environment.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; must occasionally push, pull and assist with lifting up to 300 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a hospital setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant licensure in the State of Nebraska.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR)
  • Valid Driver’s License
