This opportunity as a Category Manager focuses on overseeing multiple product lines, negotiating with suppliers, and supporting sales and marketing initiatives within a fast-paced food distribution environment. This role is ideal for someone with retail grocery experience who enjoys working cross-functionally to optimize product assortment, pricing, and vendor relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Manage all aspects of multiple product lines including supplier negotiations, promotions, advertising, and merchandising
• Build optimal assortments balancing national brands, private label, and emerging products
• Analyze market trends and pricing to make informed business decisions
• Negotiate cost, terms, promotional funding, and trade agreements with suppliers
• Coordinate with warehouse and transportation teams to ensure timely delivery of retailer orders
• Communicate with retailers regarding new items, surveys, and order status updates
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date product information files
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, brokers, and customers
• Forecast business needs and support planning activities
• Develop pricing strategies to remain competitive while achieving margin targets
• Lead new item introductions, product rationalization, and lifecycle management
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Category Management

Required Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Marketing, Business, or related field preferred
• Minimum 1 year of grocery retail experience preferred
• Experience in category management, procurement, or purchasing preferred
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong communication skills with ability to interact across multiple levels of the organization
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Experience with AS400 is a plus
• Strong attention to detail with accurate data entry skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must be self-motivated and professional
