Work Hours: 8 to 10 hours per week

Brief Job Overview/Summary

Under the direction of the full-time pantry primary, Kelly Burns, the Food Pantry Student Assistant, serves as the first point of contact for students visiting the Osprey Pantries. Students are hired and eligible to re-hire on a semesterly basis. Student Assistants are responsible for:

Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Inventory
NACE Competencies: Critical Thinking, Teamwork, and Technology
• Proactively maintain inventory, which includes but is not limited to:
• Stocking shelves
• Ensuring all products are always available for visitors
• Checking expiration dates and rotating both perishable and non-perishable inventory to follow FIFO practices
• Assisting with receiving deliveries and unloading orders
• Gathering and transporting donations from various locations on campus
• Ensuring that the pantry and all storage items are neat, tidy, and adhering to food safety guidelines
• Proactively use internal management systems (inventory, logs, etc.) to report unavailable items and document required and requested information

Customer Service

• Greet and document all visitors with a commitment to fostering a welcoming, judgement-free environment
• Encourage visitors’ adherence to quantity limits and address or escalate violations of signage and established pantry guidelines
Programming and Development
NACE Competencies: Career & Self-Development, Communication, and Equity & Inclusion
• Assist with signature Program events, such as the Citation Forgiveness Drive and various holiday distributions
• Represent the Food Assistance Program at various events as needed, such as through tabling
• Attend all mandatory strategic area and Program trainings and meetings

Required Qualifications:

• Strong, consistent, and reliable communication skills across various platforms
• Proactive initiative
• A commitment to confidentiality and integrity
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift 10lbs and manually transport items (via cart)
• Good judicial standing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Working knowledge of Google Drive, Event Swipe, and Zoom
• Ability to serve on both the Galloway (TRLC) and Atlantic City campuses
• Good academic standing
• Availability to receive donations at 7:30 AM on the first and third Thursday of each month
• Availability over university breaks
• Driver’s license
