Job Duties: (Essential Functions)

Leadership & Supervision

  • Provide ongoing supervision, coaching, and support to MHRWs
  • Conduct regular 1:1 meetings and performance evaluations
  • Support onboarding and training of new staff
  • Address performance concerns and reinforce expectations

Operations & Shift Oversight

  • Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and support daily operations
  • Oversee workflow including groups, rounds, meals, and documentation
  • Problem-solve real-time issues related to staff and client needs
  • Collaborate with nursing, clinical leadership, and on call supports

Client Care Oversight

  • Ensure delivery of safe, consistent, and client-centered care
  • Support staff with de-escalation and behavioral interventions
  • Monitor client engagement in programming and daily living activities
  • Step in to assist with high-acuity or complex situations

Documentation & Compliance

  • Review staff documentation for accuracy, timeliness, and quality
  • Ensure compliance with Minnesota DHS 245I and agency standards
  • Provide coaching and feedback to improve documentation practices

Team Communication & Culture

  • Lead team meetings, huddles, and participate in interdisciplinary staffing
  • Communicate expectations, updates, and program changes clearly
  • Promote a positive, professional, and collaborative team environment
  • Support conflict resolution and team cohesion
  • Model CAP (Consistency, Accountability, Predictability)
  • Maintain consistent expectations and follow-through across all staff
  • Hold self and team accountable to performance and care standards

Key Result Areas:

  • Maintain Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker labor hours to be 556 hours per pay period.
  • Grocery Budget $600 per month.
  • Staff turnover 1 per quarter.
  • 3.5 OT hours per person per payroll.
  • 100% completion of staff documentation.
  • 100% completion of monthly trainings.
Requirements:

Required Skills and Experience (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience,
licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities)

  • Must pass required Applicant Background check
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Minimum 4,000 hours of direct client care experience in mental health, behavioral health, or residential treatment
  • Demonstrated leadership ability or experience supporting team operations
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Meets the standards for Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker per DHS guidelines as listed below:

Mental Health Rehabilitation Worker Supervisor must meet the following 4 requirements:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must successfully complete 30 hours of training during the two years prior to hiring in each of the following areas:

- Recipient rights

- Recipient-centered individual treatment planning

- Behavioral terminology

- Mental illness

- Co-occurring mental illness and substance abuse

- Psychotropic medications and side effects

- Functional assessment

- Local community resources

- Adult vulnerability

- Recipient confidentiality

  • Meets one of the qualifications in A. or B.

A. Have associate of arts degree in one of the behavioral sciences or is a registered nurse without a bachelor’s degree, or within the previous 10 years has :

  • Three years personal life experience with serious and persistent mental illness.
  • Three years personal life experience as primary caregiver to an adult with a serious mental illness or brain injury.
  • 4000 hours supervised paid work experience in the delivery of mental health services to adults with a serious mental illness or brain injury.

B. Is fluent in non-English language or competent in culture of ethnic group to which at least 20 percent of rehab worker’s recipients belong, and

  • receives monthly documented individual clinical supervision during the first 2000 hours employment.
  • has 18 hours of documented field supervision by a mental health professional or practitioner during the first 160 hours of contact work with recipients and at least 6 hours of field supervision quarterly during the following year.
  • has review and co-signature of charting of recipient contacts during field supervision by a mental health professional or practitioner, and
  • has 15 hours of additional continuing education on mental health topics during the first year of employment and 15 hours during every additional year of employment.

Additional Skills and Experience (Preferred or helpful)

  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
  • Ability to effectively relate to residents in a community or facility.
  • Availability and flexibility to work additional hours, as need dictates.
  • Successfully complete a background study
  • Must know and understand the implications of 245G, sections 245A.65, 626.557, and 626.5572, and Chapter 260E.
  • Free of chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding hire date and sign a statement attesting to that fact
  • Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Proficient working knowledge of Google Suite and internet research
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience
  • Experience in IRTS or similar Minnesota-based programs
  • Knowledge of Minnesota DHS 245I
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification or willingness to obtain
