About This Position

Senior Internal Auditor (IT Focus)

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Internal Auditor (IT Focus) in United States.

This role sits at the intersection of technology, risk management, and financial systems assurance within a highly regulated financial services environment. You will be responsible for evaluating IT systems, internal controls, and operational processes to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. Working as part of a collaborative audit function, you will assess risks, test controls, and help strengthen governance across complex information systems. The position offers exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, as well as opportunities to influence remediation strategies and process improvements. It is a highly analytical role where precision, independence, and strong communication are essential. You will also contribute to building audit quality by supporting less experienced team members and external partners.

Accountabilities:
  • Plan and execute IT-focused internal audits by identifying risk areas, defining audit scope, and developing testing procedures across systems, processes, and applications.
  • Evaluate IT infrastructure, data flows, and internal controls to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Develop audit documentation including risk and control matrices, process narratives, and flowcharts to support audit execution and reporting.
  • Test manual and automated controls, identify deficiencies, and assess process effectiveness, efficiency, and compliance gaps.
  • Communicate audit findings and progress to management, prepare formal audit reports, and support remediation tracking and follow-up activities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external audit partners to ensure timely resolution of identified issues and continuous process improvement.
Requirements:

This position requires strong IT auditing expertise combined with a solid understanding of financial systems, risk frameworks, and regulatory environments. You should be comfortable working independently, analyzing complex technical processes, and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations. Strong communication skills and attention to detail are critical, along with the ability to work across multiple teams and levels of leadership.

  • 5+ years of IT auditing experience (internal audit or public accounting required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, IT, or related field
  • Experience in risk management, IT operations, or related business/technical roles preferred
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems, internal controls, and audit methodologies
  • Experience with financial services or payment systems is a plus
  • Professional certification (CIA, CISA, CISSP, or equivalent) required or actively pursued
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret regulations and assess compliance across IT environments
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range: $84,900 – $108,200 (based on experience and qualifications)
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with telemedicine support
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and additional leave programs (parental, maternity, family care)
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with employer contributions and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
  • Life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities
  • Mental health support and employee assistance programs
  • Inclusive workplace culture focused on diversity, equity, and belonging.
