Technician Trainee - Marine Engine Prep

Technician Trainee / Marine Engine Prep Opportunity Summary:

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Marine Engine Prep / Shop Technician Trainee to support daily operations in our facility. This role is responsible for preparing engines for delivery, including assembly, painting, fluid checks, and component installation, while ensuring all products are received, inspected, and handled properly. The position also involves forklift operation, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, and assisting with general shop and warehouse activities.

This is a hands-on role with strong growth potential, offering the opportunity to advance into a Technician Apprentice position for individuals who demonstrate initiative and mechanical aptitude.

Job Duties:

  • Operates forklift to retrieve, store, deliver or receive products
  • Inspect incoming products to ensure all components are received and make sure there is no damage during transport.
  • Prepare engines for delivery to customers to include preparation, paint and installation of components to include transmissions, alternators, water connections as well as insuring engines coolant, oil and gear lube filled to correct levels
  • Ensure engines or systems are properly secured and packaged before final delivery
  • Keeps track of an assigned tool inventory and performs proper tool maintenance
  • Assist with truck shop
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area
  • Reads and follows all safety and EPA regulations
  • Warehouse and Shop upkeeping
  • Opportunities to advance to technician apprentice while performing duties

Work Experience & Qualifications:

  • 2+ Years of repair and maintenance experience in a shop environment or completion of marine certificate/training program
  • Basic mechanical skills, knowledge of internal combustion engines
  • Ability to follow verbal and written directions
  • Fork truck experience a plus, must have basic hand tools
