As a Commissary Meat Associate, you play a critical role behind the scenes, helping prepare the high-quality meats and products that supply our stores daily. From cutting premium meats to producing our handmade sausages, your work directly supports the standards that set Joseph’s apart.

Growth & Learning at Joseph’s

In this role, you’ll build hands-on experience in meat preparation, food safety, and production operations within a high-volume commissary environment. You’ll develop technical skills working with specialized equipment while learning proper cutting techniques, product handling, and inventory processes. For team members who show initiative and consistency, there are opportunities to grow into advanced production or leadership roles.

Routine Tasks:

  • Maintain Joseph’s standards for product freshness, quality, and sanitation
  • Cut, trim, bone, and grind meats according to production needs
  • Prepare and package products, including handmade sausages and other meat items
  • Weigh, label, and properly store products in refrigerators or freezers
  • Operate meat department equipment such as knives, grinders, mixers, and scales
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and work areas to meet health and safety standards
  • Operate knives, grinder, scale, mixer, and other Meat equipment
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Meat cutting or food production experience preferred
  • Spanish language skills required

Physical & Work Environment:

A Commissary Meat Associate works primarily in a production and meat preparation environment. This role involves standing for extended periods, frequent lifting of products up to 80 pounds, and working in refrigerated and temperature-controlled areas. The position requires the use of sharp tools and machinery, attention to safety protocols, and regular interaction with team members in a fast-paced production setting.

Work Schedule:

This position requires schedule flexibility, including availability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, overnights, and holidays based on production needs.
