About This Position

The Maintenance Instructor will provide both classroom and facility-based training for all levels on preventative and corrective maintenance techniques and procedures for all Bus Operations transit vehicles; The Instructor will also ensure the safety of passengers and employees through proper instruction and enforcement of Authority standards and policies.

• Conduct classroom and field instruction of Bus Operations maintenance employees by providing technical instruction in all aspects of facility logistics, and vehicle repair and diagnosis, including alternative propulsion systems.
• Ensure the safety of passengers and employees through the proper instruction and enforcement of Authority standards and policies.
• Work closely with facility level personnel both as a technical advisor and hands-on trainer.
• Review performance indicators to determine effectiveness of maintenance programs.
• Assist in the development of training programs, PowerPoint presentations, films, handouts and/or written exams for the professional development and promotion of employees.
• Implementing and maintaining manual and computerized systems to monitor training activities and ensure compliance with established budgets.
• Evaluate the level and manner of repair work completed.
• Produce technical reports and presentations.
• Respond to each inquiry, whether from a customer, vendor, or co-worker in a courteous and professional manner.
• Respond to accidents and emergency situations.
• Conduct investigations of accidents and incidents.
• Drive a company or personal vehicle, including buses, to visit work sites and to assist at emergencies and/or events as needed.
• Respond, either directly or through others, to emergencies on a twenty-four (24) hour, seven (7) day per week basis. Uphold the rights and interests of the Authority while building and maintaining an effective relationship with employees.
• Assist in the management of a workforce by ensuring the fair and consistent application and strict adherence to the rules, regulations, collective bargaining agreements (if applicable) and policies of the Authority including the EEO, Anti-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment and Anti-Retaliation policies.
• Perform all other duties and projects that may be assigned.

• A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) from an accredited institution.
• Four (4) years of experience in bus/transportation fleet equipment repair and maintenance and/or RTLtlR Vehicles/Equipment repair and maintenance.
• One (1) year recent experience working with the operational and mechanical characteristics of heavy-duty trucks and buses, including intelligent network control systems, sub-system electronic controllers and alternative fueled engines.
• A valid driver's license.
• Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Permit with general knowledge, air brakes, passenger, hazardous material, and combination vehicles endorsements prior to filling this position.
• Demonstrated training and presentation skills.
• Evaluate and guide the performance of others in various training situations.
• Recent experience in a supervisory capacity required.
• Effective organizational and analytical skills.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Database or PowerPoint applications.
• The ability to provide internal and external customers with a courteous and professional experience. Have the ability to work any and all shifts and/or locations as assigned or directed.
Be available to work twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week.
• Have the ability to supervise and work effectively with a diverse workforce.
• Successful applicants must have the English language skills required for the effective performance of the position.

Preferred Experience and Skills
• A technical degree from an accredited institution.
• Maintenance training from a technical institute or related technical certificates from an accredited institution.
• Experience in developing and delivering training.
• Fundamental understanding of A/C propulsion and IGBT technology
