The Laboratory Manager III will be responsible for performing a variety of independent and complex laboratory work and research focused on the analysis of biological samples (metabolites, lipids and proteins) by liquid chromatography high resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS). The Laboratory Manger III will be required to independently develop, optimize, and validate LC-HRMS assays to support research and development efforts of the core. Broadly, this role involves method development, sample preparation, data acquisition, data analysis, troubleshooting, instrument maintenance, and documentation in a regulated or research environment. This role will be involved in collaborative efforts and provide scientific leadership in LC-HRMS-based projects.
The Laboratory Manager III will be involved in the utilization and maintenance of complex LC-HRMS instrumentation. This individual must have expertise in instrument maintenance, sample preparation and method development across multiple platforms including metabolomics, lipidomics and proteomics. Candidates for this position will have a strong work ethic, communication skills, ability to troubleshoot, be detail orientated and organized, and be able to manage multiple interdisciplinary projects and timelines with minimal supervision. Candidate must have BS degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or related scientific discipline with 5 years of relevant postgraduate training or industrial experience.
Directs day-to-day laboratory operations while ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices. Works with, adapts, and installs scientific equipment in research laboratories. Develops moderately complex projects and procedures independently. Manages inventory and equipment and performs budget functions. Collaborates to write grant applications and manuscripts.

Physical Effort
Required to sit, and or stand for long period including moving for several hours at a time. May be required to move objects up to 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment. Bending and lifting to put away supplies. Ability to read small print on tubes and vials and documents.
