This senior leadership role is responsible for defining and elevating the end-to-end digital experience across a national nonprofit’s ecosystem, with a strong focus on website strategy, UX, accessibility, and cross-platform consistency. You will shape a multi-year vision for digital transformation, ensuring intuitive, inclusive, and high-performing experiences for diverse audiences. Operating in a fully remote, mission-driven environment, you will collaborate closely with marketing, IT, content, and leadership teams to modernize digital touchpoints. The role blends strategic oversight with hands-on UX leadership, including optimization of user journeys, content architecture, and digital engagement. You will also explore emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, to enhance discoverability and personalization. Accountabilities

Lead the development and execution of a long-term digital strategy, defining a modern roadmap that enhances user experience, platform integration, and digital engagement across organizational properties.

  • Own and evolve the enterprise digital experience strategy, ensuring alignment with mission priorities and audience needs
  • Lead UX, UI, and information architecture improvements across websites and digital platforms
  • Drive website modernization initiatives, improving navigation, usability, responsiveness, and content structure
  • Establish and enforce consistent UX standards, design systems, and governance across digital channels
  • Oversee SEO, discoverability, and content optimization strategies, including emerging AI-driven search behaviors
  • Champion accessibility, privacy, and compliance standards in partnership with legal and IT stakeholders
  • Leverage analytics, A/B testing, and user behavior insights to continuously improve digital performance and engagement
  • Lead and mentor internal teams and external partners supporting digital experience delivery
Requirements

This role requires deep expertise in digital experience leadership, with a strong background in UX strategy, web modernization, and cross-functional collaboration in complex environments. The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with hands-on execution and strong stakeholder influence skills.

  • 10+ years of experience in digital strategy, UX/UI, information architecture, or related fields
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related discipline
  • Proven experience modernizing large-scale digital platforms and improving end-to-end user journeys
  • Strong expertise in UX best practices, mobile-first design, accessibility (WCAG), and content architecture
  • Solid understanding of SEO, digital analytics, and performance optimization techniques
  • Experience collaborating with technical teams and managing multi-stakeholder digital initiatives
  • Familiarity with emerging trends such as AI-driven search, personalization, and semantic content strategies
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
