About This Position
The Production Assistant – Assembly Technician Emphasis provides general production support with a primary focus on assembly operations. This role includes assembling membrane switches, panels, windows, and related components in accordance with job specifications. When not required in Assembly, this position supports other production areas such as screen reclaiming, racking, lamination, inspection, and general manufacturing tasks. This position requires high attention to detail, strong hand-eye coordination, and adaptability across departments.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssembly-Focused Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret job bags and work order instructions to complete assembly tasks accurately. Assembly
- Assemble membrane switches, panels, windows, and other hand-built components following job specifications and quality standards. Assembly
- Apply overlays, pre-mask materials, and ensure correct alignment and registration.
- Use small hand tools such as crimpers and apply connectors or terminations as required. Assembly
- Inspect parts for defects, functionality, cleanliness, and cosmetic quality; report discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
- Bundle, label, and package finished components.
General Production Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support additional production departments when assembly demand is low (e.g., screen printing, lamination, racking, inspection, de-slugging, waste stripping, custodial tasks). Prod. Asst.
- Follow all work order instructions and maintain production efficiency.
- Verify color, print quality, and registration during inspection tasks. Prod. Asst.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and follow all safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support production goals.
This position has no supervisory responsibilities but is expected to demonstrate professionalism, follow company policies, and promote a positive and safe work environment.
QualificationsRequired Skills & Competencies:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 months of related manufacturing or assembly experience preferred. Assembly
- Ability to read and follow simple instructions and work order documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and hand dexterity for small part assembly.
- Basic computer and math skills.
- Ability to use small hand tools (crimpers, cutters, alignment tools, etc.). Assembly
- Above-average hand-eye coordination and color/print quality judgment. Prod. Asst.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills across departments.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands for handling small components, and reach with arms. Assembly
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching when supporting various departments. Prod. Asst.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 35 pounds.
- Must have visual acuity for close-up work, inspection, and fine alignment tasks.
- Moderate noise level typical of manufacturing areas. Prod. Asst.
- Exposure to moving machinery, adhesives, films, and assembly materials.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required where applicable.
- Ability to work full-time, 40 hours per week
- Availability Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
- Reliable transportation or consistent means of getting to and from work
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
