About the Role:
The Dental Assistant plays a critical role in supporting dental professionals to deliver high-quality patient care in a safe and efficient environment. This position involves preparing patients for dental procedures, assisting the dentist during treatments, and ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained. The Dental Assistant also manages patient records and appointment scheduling, contributing to smooth office operations. Minimum Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting program.
- Certification in Infection Control and Sterilization procedures.
- Proficiency in dental terminology and clinical dental assisting techniques.
- Basic knowledge of dental software systems, preferably Dentrix.
- Valid certification or licensure as required by the state of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic health records and dental practice management software.
- Additional certification in radiography or expanded functions dental assisting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to provide compassionate patient care.
- Familiarity with ergonomic body motion techniques to reduce physical strain during procedures.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced dental office environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare treatment rooms and dental instruments for patient procedures, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and infection control protocols are followed.
- Assist the dentist during examinations and dental procedures by handing instruments, operating suction devices, and providing patient comfort.
- Manage patient records using dental software such as Dentrix, including updating medical histories and documenting treatments.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions to support ongoing dental health.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Skills:
The required skills such as Dental Assisting and Dental Terminology are essential for accurately supporting dental procedures and communicating effectively with the dental team. Sterilization and Infection Control skills ensure patient safety by preventing cross-contamination and maintaining a hygienic clinical environment. Proficiency in Dentrix software facilitates efficient patient record management and appointment scheduling, streamlining office workflow.
