Our company specializes in services like custom engineering, inspections, mechanical equipment services, corrosion protection, steel component repairs, thermal upgrades, structure replacements, and new tower construction.


The OBR Cooling Towers Safety Specialist (SS) is responsible for overseeing and enforcing all safety measures on an active construction project. The SS inspects work areas, materials, equipment, and employee work habits to ensure that everything follows OSHA regulatory guidelines and company procedures. This person is responsible for making changes to improve the safety of the workplace. The SS ensures that the Safety Policies created by OBR are followed. This person provides safety expertise and OBR safety program support in areas including employee, client, and facility safety, incident and accident investigations, OSHA regulatory and other licensing compliance. The Safety Specialist will demonstrate strong leadership skills, ensures that job sites are planned & executed as safely as possible. The SS will assist with executing OBR’s overall risk and safety strategy. The Safety Specialist must work closely with the OBR Safety Manager, Company Leadership, Site Superintendents, Site Formen, project management, and customer EH&S groups to meet or exceed customer expectations. Position may require travel depending on job locations.

ROLES/TASKS OF THE POSITION

  • Stay current on state and federal occupational safety regulations, including OSHA 29 CFR 1020 and 1926, and apply expertise on job sites.
  • Identify and mitigate workplace health and safety hazards.
  • Support project teams with safe work processes (JSAs, THAs, Safe Work Procedures).
  • Enforce OBR safety policies and procedures at job sites.
  • Respond quickly and efficiently to emergency situations.
  • Maintain safety documentation and records.
  • Monitor and investigate near-miss incidents.
  • Conduct internal and customer-site safety audits/inspections and participate in incident investigations.
  • Collaborate with Safety Manager and leadership to analyze trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead and organize on-site safety meetings; ensure personnel compliance.
  • Provide safety expertise to employees, subcontractors, and clients throughout projects.
  • Serve as primary contact for risk and safety program administration.
  • Assist in executing OBR’s overall risk and safety strategy.
  • Pursue ongoing professional safety training and education.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, or equivalent
  • Associate's degree in occupational health and safety, Management, and/or a minimum of 1 year of experience in a health and safety role.
  • Industry-recognized certifications such as OSHA 500, CSHO, CHST, STS-C etc.

PREREQUISITES / REQUIREMENTS

  • Negative 10 panel urinalysis and breath alcohol test
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship
  • Score of a 2 or less in a DISA background screen
