Yellowstone Club’s Outdoor Pursuits Kids department is currently seeking candidates for a Camp Chef/Counselor for this upcoming Summer season! Our Summer employment months are June - September.
This position is responsible for planning and preparing food in the summer camp programs and on overnight trips. The age group ranges are 4-12. Aspects for this job require planning healthy meals, cooking for large groups, grocery shopping when necessary, and executing proper food safety protocols. When not preparing meals or snacks, the camp chef must also be comfortable counseling children and engaging in summer camp activities. Subjects include outdoor safety, camping skills, children’s games, ice breakers, Leave no Trace ethics, local flora and fauna, hiking, and fun. In addition, the camp chef MUST be comfortable joining kids ages 4+ while camping in the wilderness on private and group trips. This is a seasonal position.
Responsibilities may Include:
- Curate healthy, fun, and kid-friendly menus that fulfill the needs of our program
- Prepare and cook lunches for 30-50 children and staff members daily
- Grocery shop for necessary fresh ingredients and snacks
- Practice proper food safety protocols
- Interact with children, staff, and parents in a professional and caring manner;
- Attend morning meeting and mandatory training sessions
- Assist in the maintenance and care of the camp supplies
Pay: This role typically pays $21.00 per hour plus gratuity.
Position Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED or vocational training
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree
- 1+ years’ experience working with children ages 4+ in a recreation setting
- 2 years’ experience of customer service
- 1+ years’ experience in food service
- Preferred current Montana ServSafe Certification
The position offered is a seasonal position located in Big Sky, Montana.
