About This Position

JSM Living is seeking a Construction Manager to lead construction and building improvement work across our commercial and residential property portfolio.

This role is well-suited for someone who understands construction at every stage and enjoys taking ownership of projects. You’ll plan the work, coordinate the people involved, and see projects through to completion. The position oversees renovations, capital improvements, and new construction projects while leading in-house skilled trade teams, including carpentry and painting. The work blends project leadership, jobsite coordination, and problem-solving, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and execution. If you bring solid construction experience, are comfortable using modern project management tools, and lead with clarity and accountability, we want you on our team.

What You’ll Do

  • Take the lead on in‑house skilled trade teams, including carpentry and painting, supporting renovation, construction, and improvement work across JSM’s property portfolio.
  • Own construction projects from early planning through completion, including renovations, capital improvements, and new construction, with responsibility for day‑to‑day progress and results.
  • Translate project plans into action by defining scopes of work, coordinating internal teams and external partners, and keeping work moving forward.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and bids, balancing cost, quality, and timeline expectations.
  • Build and maintain project schedules, track progress, identify constraints and long‑lead items, and work through challenges as they arise to keep projects on track.
  • Spend time on active jobsites to check progress, address issues, and confirm work meets quality standards, safety expectations, and approved plans.
  • Coordinate permits and inspections with local authorities and ensure work complies with applicable building codes, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements.
  • Keep projects organized and visible by maintaining clear documentation around scope, schedules, costs, changes, and progress using project management and Microsoft 365 tools.
  • Collaborate with Capital Projects, Commercial, and Development teams on current and future construction and development initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–10 years of construction experience, including supervisory or management responsibility
  • Strong working knowledge of carpentry and general building construction, with the ability to coordinate effectively with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing teams
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, estimates, and vendor relationships
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Comfortable working in active job-site environments for inspections, coordination, and project oversight
  • Proficiency with project management software (such as ProCore) and Microsoft 365 tools; ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed to meet project demands
  • Valid driver’s license; some local travel required

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred
  • SkyTrak/Lull certification a plus
