About This Position
Dirigo Support Professionals is seeking a Director of Behavioral services to provide leadership and oversight for specialized residential programs serving youth and adults with complex behavioral, emotional, and developmental needs, including individuals with forensic involvement or high-acuity support requirements. This role combines clinical leadership, operational oversight, and staff development to ensure programs deliver safe, trauma-informed, and evidence-based services. The Director of Behavioral Services will play a key role in expanding Dirigo’s capacity to support individuals requiring enhanced staffing ratios (including 2:1, 3:1, and 4:1 staffing models) while maintaining the highest standards of care and compliance. This position works closely with the Director of Residential Services, clinical consultants, and program leadership to ensure individuals receive high-quality, individualized support.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Behavioral Oversight
- Provide leadership in the development and implementation of behavior support strategies and plans
- Ensure programs follow trauma-informed and evidence-based practices
- Support teams in managing high-risk behaviors, crisis intervention, and stabilization
- Collaborate with BCBAs, therapists, psychiatrists, and case managers
- Review behavioral data and ensure effective use of interventions
Program Leadership
- Provide oversight for specialized residential programs serving individuals with high behavioral needs
- Support the development of new high-acuity residential programs
- Assist in designing programs for individuals requiring enhanced supervision ratios
- Ensure programs operate in compliance with state regulations and agency policies
Staff Training & Development
- Train and mentor staff in behavior management strategies
- Provide coaching and supervision to program managers, supervisors, and direct support staff
- Lead ongoing staff development and training initiatives
- Support staff during behavioral crises and complex situations
Operational Support
- Work closely with residential leadership to ensure programs operate smoothly
- Assist with staffing strategies and program structure for high-acuity placements
- Participate in admissions and program planning for new individuals served
- Support quality assurance and continuous program improvement
Qualifications
Education
- Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field preferred
- BCBA, LCPC, LCSW, PRM-RN or equivalent clinical credential preferred
- Bachelor’s degree with significant behavioral experience may be considered
Experience
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or severe behavioral challenges
- Experience in residential or intensive support settings
- Experience supervising staff and leading teams
- Strong background in behavioral support strategies and crisis intervention
