Job Description
The (DSP) Direct Support Professional Lead has the overall responsibility of assisting and supporting members in their homes and community. This includes providing direct training to members and assisting them in meeting their needs on a day-to-day basis per their (IPP) Individual Program Plan. The DSP Lead assures members formal goals and informal programs are carried out in harmony with their IPP, providing guidance to those participating in (HCBS) Home and Community Based programming including, County funded Supported individuals, ID waiver, BI Waiver, and Habilitation services. In addition to carrying out the same job duties as a DSP, the DSP Lead will be allocated so many hours each week to perform administrative duties.
Some of the duties would include but not limited to the following:
Assist members with personal wellness and nutrition
Promote and assist members participation in activities and community integration
Assist members with daily living activities (grocery shopping, menu planning, etc.)
Ensure members receive proper medical care and assistance
Assist/Administer the member with medications
Support members in areas of general housekeeping and home cares
Attend all relevant staffing's, IPP's, individual monthly meetings, trainings and in-services
Promote member's choice, person centered services, maintain their dignity and rights
Ensure that monthly safety checklist and drills are completed on time
Requirements:- Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in Human Services and working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, and mental illness preferred.
- Must maintain a valid Iowa Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
- Successful completion of pre-employment background check
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Physically able to assist members if necessary.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Must serve as on-call.
- Must maintain certification in CPR and First Aid.
- Must maintain Medication Management certification.
- Must be able to safely use adaptive equipment.
Wage:
Starting wage is $17.50 and will be based on experience
