JOB TITLE: Food Pantry and Breakfast Program Coordinator

EMPLOYER: Martin Luther King Community Center

DEPARTMENT: Hunger Services

REPORTS TO: Director of Hunger Services

Pay: $21.00/hour to $24.00/hour

Full Time Position: Benefit Eligible (Health, Vision, Dental, Life/ADD, STD, LTD, PTO, Paid Holidays)

Schedule: Monday through Friday – Hours: 6:00 am to 2:00 pm

Hours: 40 hours per week

SUMMARY:As a Food Pantry and Breakfast Program Coordinator, you’ll be a vital component of the Martin Luther King Community Center’s mission of empowering the community and working to end hunger. You will help drive the success of our Hunger Services programs by managing essential daily operations and providing direct, compassionate support to our neighbors. You will be responsible for facilitating our daily Breakfast Program and helping with all other Hunger Services programs. Your work ensures that no one in our community goes hungry.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Oversees and is present for the daily MLK Breakfast Program.
  • Is knowledgeable regarding MLK policies and guidelines, and acts as a role model in abiding them.
  • Handles donation inquiries, including organizing and soliciting food drives.
  • Communicates with a large volunteer team to ensure the successful execution of programs.
  • Coordinates donations and deliveries from local vendors and retail partners.
  • Schedules and organizes administrative work to include phone communication, data entry, and food inventory.
  • Stocks food pantry shelves.
  • Loads/unloads truck.
  • Sets-up/breakdowns hunger services community events.
  • Shops at local merchants for pantry products.
  • Sorts items, stocks pantry shelves.
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the food pantry as well as the van/truck after each use.
  • Assures that boxes are being broken down for recycling.
  • Drives the Center vehicles.
  • Performs van and truck safety checks on a daily basis.
  • Works as a team member with other Hunger Services staff as well as with other MLK Center staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings and site events as requested.
  • Follows all program policies and state regulations.
  • Maintains personal professional development to ensure continuous quality improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Hunger Services and/or Executive Director.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Employment contingent upon successful background screening.
Certificates, licenses and registrations required:
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Computer skills required:
  • Database Software
  • Spreadsheet Software (Excel);
  • Word Processing Software (Word);
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook);
Other skills required:
  • Able to perform rigorous physical duties: heavy lifting, carrying, moving items, climbing in/out of box truck and van, etc.
