Description:

The Driver Dispatcher is responsible for managing, assigning, and supporting drivers to ensure timely, safe, and compliant pickup and delivery of shipments. This role serves as the communication hub between drivers, warehouse teams, operations staff, and customers. The Dispatcher optimizes routing, ensures regulatory compliance, and provides real-time problem-solving to maintain the highest service standards in the freight forwarding process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assign drivers for tours and/or local pickups and deliveries based on shipment priorities, service level commitments, and equipment availability
  • Communicate clear instructions to drivers regarding routes, cargo details, airport/TSA requirements, and customer-specific needs, as applicable
  • Monitor driver progress using dispatch software, GPS tracking, and TMS systems; provide proactive updates to customers and internal teams
  • Verify driver credentials (TSA/IAC certification, insurance, licenses) and ensure vehicles meet safety and compliance standards, as applicable
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure freight is staged, loaded, and unloaded efficiently
  • Manage shipment documentation, including Bills of Lading (BOLs), Proof of Delivery (PODs), and security paperwork
  • Resolve operational issues such as delays, equipment breakdowns, or misrouted shipments, escalating as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of driver assignments, equipment use, and shipment milestones in the TMS/dispatch system
  • Support adherence to TSA, DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations
  • Provide exceptional service by ensuring communication between drivers, operations, and customers is timely and professional
  • Required to be available for on-call support, weekends or extended hours depending on shipment volumes
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

  • Highschool diploma or equivalent education and experience
  • 1+ years of freight forwarding, airfreight or cartage dispatch
  • Some experience in Route Optimization & Resource Management
  • TSA/IAC security awareness training preferred
  • Functional skills with Microsoft Office products
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
