This role sits at the heart of product strategy for one of the world’s most widely used privacy-focused web browsers, shaping how millions of people experience the internet every day. You will lead the analytical vision for a major product area, defining how success is measured and ensuring decisions are grounded in rigorous, high-quality data insights. Working closely with product and engineering leadership, you will translate complex, ambiguous questions into clear analytical frameworks that directly influence roadmap priorities and long-term growth strategy. This is a highly strategic, high-impact position where your work will guide investment decisions, product direction, and user growth initiatives. You will also elevate the broader data science function by setting methodological standards, mentoring peers, and building reusable analytical systems. Operating in a mission-driven, open-source environment, your contributions will help advance a more transparent and user-first internet.

Accountabilities:
  • Own the analytical strategy for a core product area, defining key questions, measurement frameworks, and success metrics that guide product and growth decisions.
  • Partner closely with product and engineering leadership to translate ambiguous business challenges into structured analytical approaches and actionable recommendations.
  • Define and maintain north-star metrics, ensuring alignment across teams on how success is measured and optimized.
  • Design, oversee, and interpret experiments and causal analyses, ensuring methodological rigor and clear translation of results into product decisions.
  • Develop deep expertise in user growth dynamics, including acquisition, activation, retention, and long-term engagement trends.
  • Contribute to forecasting and growth modeling initiatives, transforming statistical outputs into strategic business insights.
  • Mentor and support other data scientists, raising the overall quality of analysis through code review, frameworks, and methodological guidance.
  • Represent data science in cross-functional forums, advocating for evidence-based decisions even when challenging existing assumptions.
  • Align data science, engineering, and product teams around shared priorities such as data quality, metrics definitions, and instrumentation.
Requirements:
  • 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied quantitative roles with demonstrated impact on product or business strategy.
  • Strong track record of leading complex, cross-functional analytical projects from problem framing to stakeholder alignment and decision influence.
  • Deep expertise in experimentation (A/B testing) and causal inference, with strong judgment on appropriate methodologies and interpretation.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python for analysis, modeling, and statistical validation.
  • Experience defining and owning product metrics that are actively used in decision-making.
  • Ability to communicate complex insights clearly and influence senior stakeholders with strong, evidence-based reasoning.
  • Proven experience mentoring or technically leading other data scientists.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-evolving environments.
  • Alignment with values such as collaboration, responsibility, resilience, and openness to diverse perspectives.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range based on location and experience ($138,000 – $218,000 USD depending on tier)
  • Performance-based bonus program
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting
  • Quarterly company-wide wellness days
  • Country-specific holidays plus birthday day off
  • One-time home office stipend
  • Annual professional development budget
  • Quarterly well-being stipend
  • Generous paid parental leave
  • Employee referral bonus program
  • Additional benefits including life/AD&D insurance, disability coverage, and employee assistance programs (varies by country)
