This role plays a critical part in driving complex procurement and subcontracting activities within a highly technical and mission-driven environment. The Principal Supply Chain Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing end-to-end sourcing strategies, supplier relationships, and subcontract execution to ensure performance, cost efficiency, and compliance with strict regulatory standards. The position requires close collaboration with engineering, program management, quality, and operations teams to align procurement strategies with program needs. It involves leading negotiations, managing supplier performance, and ensuring delivery of critical goods and services that support large-scale, high-impact programs. The environment is fast-paced and highly structured, requiring strong analytical thinking and sound decision-making. This is a strategic yet hands-on role with significant influence on supply chain performance and program success.
- Develop subcontract specifications, work statements, and contractual terms for the procurement of services, materials, and specialized equipment.
- Manage the full procurement lifecycle including bid preparation, supplier evaluation, cost and price analysis, negotiations, award execution, and subcontract administration.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders such as engineering, contracts, operations, quality, and program teams to ensure alignment on requirements and delivery expectations.
- Lead supplier management activities including performance monitoring, quality evaluation, delivery assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify and implement sourcing strategies that reduce cost, improve efficiency, and mitigate supply chain risks.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, including FAR/DFARS, import/export controls, and internal corporate policies.
- Manage subcontract modifications, invoice approvals, and supplier payment processes while ensuring accurate documentation and compliance.
- Utilize Lean Six Sigma and other process improvement tools to drive supplier performance and operational excellence.
- High school diploma with 9+ years of relevant experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years, or Master’s degree with 1+ year of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain.
- Strong understanding of procurement principles, policies, and government contracting regulations, including FAR and DFARS.
- Experience managing complex supplier relationships, sourcing activities, and subcontract execution in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams and senior leadership levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Preferred experience in aerospace, defense, or government contracting environments, including familiarity with SAP systems and ITAR regulations.
- Competitive salary ranging from $85,600 to $128,400 annually.
