Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Platform Engineer, Storage in Ireland.
This role sits at the core of a high-scale, multi-cloud data platform responsible for powering reliable and performant storage systems across a globally distributed analytics engineering ecosystem. You will help design and operate the foundational infrastructure that enables data teams to work efficiently with governed, high-quality data at scale. The focus is on building and evolving storage services across AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring strong performance, resilience, and developer experience. You will contribute to a next-generation platform architecture that reduces operational complexity while improving automation, observability, and self-service capabilities. Working in a fully remote, highly collaborative engineering environment, you will partner with multiple infrastructure and product teams to solve complex distributed systems challenges. This is a high-impact role where your work directly shapes the reliability and scalability of a critical data platform used by thousands of organizations worldwide.
- Design, build, and operate scalable storage infrastructure systems across AWS, Azure, and GCP, supporting both single-tenant and multi-tenant architectures.
- Enhance and evolve core storage platform components, including relational databases, object storage, caching, search, queuing, and streaming systems.
- Improve platform reliability, performance, and developer experience through automation, tooling, and infrastructure optimization.
- Collaborate closely with Architecture, Compute, Networking, Security, and Release Engineering teams to ensure a seamless platform for application development.
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and related tooling for consistent, scalable deployments.
- Participate in a balanced on-call rotation, actively improving system reliability, incident response, and operational efficiency.
- Drive improvements in observability and monitoring using tools such as Datadog to reduce operational toil and increase system visibility.
- Support the evolution of a multi-cloud, cell-based architecture designed for scale, resilience, and developer self-service.
- Significant experience designing, building, and operating production-grade infrastructure systems, particularly focused on storage or data platforms.
- Strong hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP), ideally across multiple environments.
- Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, and container orchestration using Kubernetes.
- Strong programming or scripting skills in Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and production infrastructure challenges at scale.
- Experience working with relational databases and object storage systems in production environments.
- Strong communication skills with experience collaborating in asynchronous, fully remote teams.
- Ability to work across cross-functional engineering teams and contribute to complex architectural decisions.
- Experience operating within high-reliability environments with on-call responsibilities.
- Competitive salary ranging from €96,000 to €125,000.
- Equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
- Unlimited vacation policy.
- Private healthcare coverage.
- Pension plan with employer contribution.
- Wellness stipend to support physical and mental well-being.
- Home office stipend and remote work support.
- Fully remote-first working environment with global collaboration.
- Opportunity to work on large-scale, multi-cloud infrastructure powering modern data platforms.
- Strong culture of learning, autonomy, and technical excellence.
