Lab Assistant at Upson Regional Medical Center – Thomaston, Georgia

Goes to doctor’s offices and nursing homes to pick up specimens daily; assists the pathologist in the gross cutting room, preparing specimens; assists a histology technician; assists the pathologist with autopsies; assists with front office duties, including assisting the phlebotomists in collecting specimens on patients of all ages, from neonates to the elderly; knows the importance of age specific needs as defined in the age specific competency checklist.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Associate's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Lab, or related field

License, Certification, Etc:

• BLS (optional)
• Phlebotomy certification preferred

Experience:

• No minimum

Prefer:

• One year experience in a hospital environment as a lab assistant
