Department Overview

The mission of the Information Technology Group (ITG) is to develop, implement and maintain technology-based services and solutions enabling OHSU to effectively manage information to accomplish its missions.

This position is part of the Business Intelligence & Advanced Analytics (BIAA) division of ITG and is responsible for the support, administration, and optimization of Epic's analytics and reporting tools, including Radar, Reporting Workbench, SlicerDicer, Registries and the Analytics Catalog.

This role ensures that providers, operational leaders, and staff have reliable, accurate, and user-friendly access to clinical, financial, and operational data to support decision-making and performance improvement. The analyst serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for these tools, configuring dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics, while also ensuring compliance with data governance and security standards.

Function/Duties of Position

Product Implementation & Configuration

  • Partner with business stakeholders to capture requirements for reporting and analytics use cases.
  • Participate in the planning, coordination, and execution of analytics product implementations.
  • Install, configure, and maintain analytics tools, applications, and environments.
  • Assist with system integrations between analytics platforms and source systems.
  • Configure analytics solutions (dashboards, reports, metrics, data models, security settings) to meet business requirements.
  • Partner with other BIAA staff on the implementation and confirmation of Epic Integrated Analytics tools.
  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and incorporate feedback into configuration refinements.
  • Set up role-based access, permissions, and security controls.

Product Support

  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for supported applications in user-facing contexts.
  • Participate in Epic upgrade cycles, including testing and validation of Cogito-related functionality.
  • Implement enhancements and optimize reporting solutions to meet evolving business requirements.
  • Assist in developing communication campaigns to inform users about upgrades, changes, and new features.
  • Assist in maintaining data dictionaries and metadata documentation.
  • Communicate technical information in business-friendly terms.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to report execution.
  • Monitor system performance and escalate critical incidents.

Product Engagement & Adoption

  • Promote awareness and adoption of IT products, applications, and tools across the organization.
  • Serve as the liaison between IT and end users to gather feedback on usability and adoption challenges.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance user engagement and satisfaction with supported products.
  • Partner with business units to showcase product features, best practices, and success stories.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership for product improvements and new functionality that support business goals.

Training & Education

  • Develop and deliver training programs for end users, super users, and IT staff on supported applications and tools.
  • Create user-friendly training materials, job aids, and documentation tailored to diverse learning needs.
  • Develop job aids, quick reference guides, and documentation for analytics products.
  • Conduct virtual one-on-one and group training sessions.
  • Assess training effectiveness through evaluations, feedback, and ongoing performance monitoring.

Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between IT and assigned vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships to foster collaboration and trust.
  • Coordinate regular vendor meetings to review performance, product updates, and issue resolution.
  • Escalate concerns and track progress on vendor commitments and service-level agreements (SLAs).

Other Duties

Participate in activities that enhance general knowledge of or ability to do assigned work, including (but not limited to):

  • Attend training classes or consume training materials.
  • Attend staff meetings and other informational sessions.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years' work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years' work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

  • Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

  • Eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be

    substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting Epic integrated reporting tools (Reporting Workbench, Radar, SlicerDicer, Registries, Analytics Catalog).
  • 2+ years of experience participating in Epic upgrades, testing, and validation for Cogito-related functionality.
  • 2+ years of experience using the Epic Clarity and Caboodle databases.
  • 1+ years of experience building and maintaining Epic reports and dashboards for clinical, financial, and operational users.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting self-service analytics tools (e.g., SlicerDicer) and training end users.
  • 1+ years of experience writing SQL queries.
  • 3+ years of experience working with vendors and cross-functional IT teams to troubleshoot and resolve system or reporting issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in report design, configuration, and troubleshooting within Epic Cogito tools.
  • Strong SQL querying and data validation skills.
  • Skilled in end-user training and support for self-service analytics tools.
  • Effective documentation and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams (clinical, financial, IT, and operational).
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to problem-solve complex reporting issues and propose solutions.
  • Ability to adapt to Epic upgrades and new feature releases, applying them effectively.

Certifications (must be able to obtain within 6 months of employment)

  • Epic Cogito Fundamentals
  • Epic Cogito Tools Administration

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Power BI.
  • Epic Clarity & Caboodle data model certification.

Additional Details

This is a fully remote position that has core business hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm Pacific Time.
