Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Inventory & Materials Improvement Specialist to support manufacturing and assembly operations by ensuring accurate, efficient, and reliable material flow. This role is responsible for improving material stocking, kitting, inventory accuracy, and inventory control policies to minimize production disruptions and support on-time assembly.

The ideal candidate understands the realities of the factory floor and brings a continuous-improvement mindset to materials management in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You'll Do...

  • Design and optimize material stocking strategies to support assembly lines and work cells; establish standard work for kit build, staging, and consumption.
  • Collaborate with production and planning teams to align material availability with build schedules
  • Execute and improve cycle count programs, physical inventories, and reconciliation processes
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve inventory discrepancies that impact production
  • Lead process-improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve accuracy, and stabilize production
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), visual controls, and work instructions
  • Develop, implement, and enforce inventory control policies for manufacturing and assembly
  • Define best practices for material handling, WIP tracking, consumption, and reconciliation
  • Support internal and external audits related to inventory accuracy and controls
  • Ensure accurate and timely inventory transactions within ERP/MRP systems
  • Track and report key inventory and materials metrics (accuracy, shortages, variances, turns)
  • Partner with production, planning, procurement, quality, and finance teams to improve material performance

You have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience in inventory or materials management within a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • Hands-on experience supporting production lines, work cells, or assembly operations
  • Strong understanding of inventory reconciliation, cycle counting, and root-cause analysis
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing setting

Nice to have...

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kanban, or pull-based material systems
  • APICS certification (CPIM, CSCP) or Lean/Six Sigma certification
  • Experience developing material flow strategies for high-mix or high-volume assembly
  • Familiarity with WIP tracking and backflushing processes
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a security clearance

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this position is $80,000-$114,000 base salary. Please note that wage information is a general guideline only, and we will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market conditions when extending an offer.
