Job Title: Principal HW/SW Integration Engineer Lead

Location: Onsite – US Huntsville, AL

Salary Range: $160,000 - $200,000 + Bonus Eligible

Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance Required

This position requires full time onsite in Huntsville, Alabama.

Description

Thompson Software Solutions is seeking a Principal Hardware/Software Integration Engineer Lead to support the integration and validation of safety- and mission-critical systems for an advanced missile platform. This role is central to ensuring the seamless interaction of embedded software, guidance and control systems, sensors, propulsion interfaces, and mission-critical avionics operating in high-performance, time-constrained environments.

The successful candidate will join a high-performing engineering team supporting next-generation missile capabilities. This role requires a technical leader with strong systems thinking, exceptional troubleshooting skills, and the ability to drive cross-functional coordination in a mission-focused, high-consequence development program. Your work will directly impact system performance, reliability, and operational effectiveness.

Selected applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Continued eligibility for access to classified information is required throughout employment, as dictated by program needs.


Basic Requirements:

● Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline or related experience.

● 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, with a strong focus on systems-level development testing and integration.

● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of delivering high-impact solutions.

● Experience with I&T integration and test.

● Experience developing and executing system-level and HIL test procedures

● Strong understanding of requirements verification and validation processes

● Experience troubleshooting integrated HW/SW systems in a lab environment

● Ability to professionally communicate project status and collaborate on technical solutions with clients and peers

● Active Secret Clearance Required

● Ability to work onsite 100%

● Ability to Travel up to 25%

Preferred / Additional Skills

● Proficient with Atlassian Tools (Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, etc.)

● Experience leading technical projects or mentoring junior engineers.

● Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).

● Familiarity with Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (Cameo, AADL)

● Experience with Signal Processing Implementation

● Experience communicating and documenting complex technical designs

● Ability to work in a collaborative and team-based environment

● Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
