About This Position
Lead the launch. Build the team. Set the standard.
Merit Coffee is expanding into Houston, and we’re looking for a Café Manager to lead the opening of our newest location. This is a high-impact role responsible for building the team, establishing the culture, and driving performance from day one.
You won’t just be managing a café — you’ll be owning a market launch.
What You’ll Do
Hire, train, and develop a high-performing café team
Lead all day-to-day operations including scheduling, inventory, and performance management
Set and maintain the standard for hospitality, speed, and product quality
Coach and develop leaders (Assistant Manager, Leads, Trainers)
Drive accountability through clear expectations and consistent feedback
Partner with leadership on new store opening execution and ongoing performance
Create a positive, team-first culture rooted in ownership and pride
What We’re Looking For
2+ years of leadership experience in coffee, food service, or retail
Proven ability to build and lead strong teams
Strong operational mindset with attention to detail
Experience with hiring, coaching, and performance management
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
High level of ownership, accountability, and follow-through
Passion for hospitality, people development, and coffee
Training & Travel Requirement (Important)
3-week paid training in San Antonio prior to Houston store opening
Must be available for travel during this time

All travel expenses paid
Hotel accommodations (pet-friendly — pets welcome)
Daily per diem provided
Mileage reimbursed (if applicable)
