Purpose of Position:
Supervise, schedule, organize and technically lead a team in the sewing activity in compliance of safety, quality, delivery and costs goals.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure management of the workshop
- Lead the team: place staff on different workstations, enforce instructions and regulations, train staff, support safety actions.
- Lead meetings (daily huddle, safety chat) to check effectiveness and relevance of workshop.
- Act as the HR relay within the service: evaluation of collaborators, management of promotions, proposal of trainings or skills development, studies annual engagement survey application of disciplinary measures.
- Ensure regular communication in transversal, top-down and bottom-up directions with colleagues and other services and relay management communication to workshop teams.
- Ensure regular reporting to the plant Manager and notifying him/her in case of problems.
- Conduct annual evaluation interviews.
2. Plan workshop activities
- Plan and schedule daily quantity to produce to optimize productivity and delivery.
- Anticipate and minimize internal and external workshop's supply needs.
- Organize shift rotation and needs of production.
- Record the data and information necessary for the follow-up and traceability of the production.
3. Ensure technical supervision and organization of the workshop
- Ensure production, process and quality management by the achievement of productivity and quality objectives.
- Optimize flows, organize workstations line balancing and layout.
- Solve complex problems related to the workshop activities (quality, curative and first level maintenance).
- Define, optimize and implement equipment, tools, and means for workshop operation.
- Participate in the new processes and products industrialization.
4. Ensure continuous improvement actions within the plant
- Track all changes and improvements made and share it to the Management.
- Sustain MSA Operating system and promote continuous improvement mindset within the workshop (6S, KPI sustaining, Standard Work, Problem Solving).
- Promote and track quick Kaizen for safety, quality, delivery and costs improvements.
- Propose continuous improvements project and/or workshop and support their implementation.
- Communicate implemented actions to the team.
5. Ensure safety and compliance
- Apply and enforce safety rules, environmental standards and internal procedures on construction sites and in the workshop.
- Ensure that teams use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
- Ensure proactive management of painting risks, including the handling of chemicals and the use of equipment.
Qualifications
Experience required:
- 1-5 years in production workshop management experience in a lean manufacturing culture environment
Education required:
- Technical education (Higher National Diploma) – Professional degree
