Federal Affairs Lead
Last Energy seeks a Federal Affairs Lead to develop and manage relationships with US Executive Branch departments and agencies, as well as Congress. The candidate will have recent experience working for or with the US Executive Branch or Congress, ideally with a focus on energy matters. The successful candidate will have a proactive and agile leadership style with the ability to listen, engage, and collaborate in order to build and maintain meaningful relationships with key US Government stakeholders that enable the organization to deliver its challenging remit.Key Duties & Responsibilities
$180,000 - $240,000 a year
Last Energy seeks a Federal Affairs Lead to develop and manage relationships with US Executive Branch departments and agencies, as well as Congress. The candidate will have recent experience working for or with the US Executive Branch or Congress, ideally with a focus on energy matters. The successful candidate will have a proactive and agile leadership style with the ability to listen, engage, and collaborate in order to build and maintain meaningful relationships with key US Government stakeholders that enable the organization to deliver its challenging remit.Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key senior stakeholders across the US Government's Executive and Legislative Branches, specifically within the Department of Energy and Department of Defense
- Identify and pursue relevant US Government initiatives, programs, and partnerships that would bring strategic value to Last Energys business goals
- Manage and liaise with lobbyists, consultants, and trade associations
- Monitor, track, and analyze proposed legislation and administrative actions, assess the potential impact on the company, and formulate appropriate responses
- Provide regular briefings to US Government stakeholders on Last Energy developments and manage government officials visits to company facilities and events
- Regularly attend events in the Washington, DC metro area at federal government departments and agencies, on Capitol Hill, or where key US Government stakeholders will be in attendance
- Develop and deploy grassroots lobbying tactics to support Last Energys public policy objectives
- Other duties as assigned
- 10+ years of experience, focused on working for or interfacing with government
- Bachelors degree or higher
- Deep understanding of US energy policy, as well as the policies and procedures of executive branch departments and agencies, particularly the Department of Energy, as well as Congress
- Possesses a hunter-mindset, the ability to take ownership of their work, and drive initiatives forward
- Excels in creative problem-solving and building relationships
- Strong writing, communication, and project management skills
- Occasional travel required
$180,000 - $240,000 a year
