Job Description
Position Summary
Under direction, performs a variety of routine and complex firefighting and emergency medical services including driving fire apparatuses, establishing water supplies from municipal and rural water sources, operating pumps and auxiliary equipment, and operating aerial devices including ladder trucks. Fire Engineers assist with duties associated with fire suppression, patient rescue, vehicle extrication, structure overhaul, and wildland fire activities, as well as respond to and assisting with emergency medical calls for service. This position is primarily reasonable for ensuring the safe operation of department apparatus and assisting firefighters during fire and emergency medical operations.

Pay Rate
Hourly Rate: $22.75 - $27.65 (non-exempt)
Annual Salary Based on a 2,912 Hour Work Year: $66,243.05 to $80,518.84
Twelve Hour Shifts are assigned the same hourly rate as described above.
Work Schedules
Depending on the needs of the department, work schedules may start out as a twelve (12) hour shift variation until adequate staffing can be obtained to transition to a 48/96 schedule. The 48/96 work scheduled is based on a work year of 2,912 hours.

Minimum Qualifications
Possession of, or ability to obtain, within six (6) months from appointment, a valid Class B California Commercial Driver’s License with air brake and tanker endorsement.
Completion of a State Fire Marshal Firefighter 1 and 2 Certificate.
Completion of a State Certified Driver/Operator 1A and 1B Certificate.
P ossession of a valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certificate certified by the National Registry.
Preferred Qualifications
Equivalent to the completion of an AS or AA degree in fire science, emergency technology, or a related field.
Completion of California State Board of Fire Services Fire Officer Series.

Criminal History and Background Check: Applicants will be fingerprinted for the purpose of a search of local, state and national fingerprint files to disclose any criminal record
