Part-Time Lab Technician/Histotechnologist at The Dermatology Specialists – new york, New York

The Dermatology Specialists is looking for a Histotechnologist to prepare histologic slides from tissue sections for microscopic examination and diagnosis by pathologists. Also, stain tissue specimens with dyes or other chemicals to make cell details visible under microscopes.

Other tasks include:

• Specimen Embedding and Microtomy
• H/E and special staining and preparation of solutions
• Slide cover slipping and labeling
• Utilizing, maintaining, and troubleshooting all equipment; tissue processors
• Participation in supply inventory management and ordering if applicable
• Filing of blocks and slides and slide distribution
• QC/QA Participation Minimum Qualifications
• NYSDOH Licensed as a Certified Clinical Laboratory histotechnician, histotechnologist, technician, or technologist.
• An Associates Degree from a relevant course of study as defined by NYS clinical laboratory licensing requirements. A high school degree will only be accepted if the individual has the designated experience defined by NYS and has obtained their NYS license through the grand parenting pathway defined by NYS.
• Experience required is 6 months - 1 year in a surgical pathology laboratory.
• Exposure to Computer systems • Good communication skills Required Licenses: Certified Histo Technician-NYS, Clinical Lab Technician-NYS, Clinical Lab Technologist-NYS

Hours: Tuesday-Friday 1pm-7pm w/ the potential to pick-up weekend shifts

Job Type: Part-time 20-30 hours a week with the potential to become full time 35-40 hours a week contingent on office/lab demand

Hourly Rate: Varies based on experience $35-$49/hr
