This role is integral to advancing data-driven decision-making and improving patient outcomes across the organization.

CHA is launching participation in the American College of Surgeons Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) and is seeking a dedicated Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (MBS) Quality Analyst. In this role, you will work both independently and collaboratively with surgical leadership, clinical teams, and quality partners to support registry reporting, performance improvement, and program success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed chart abstraction, coding, and interpretation of clinical data
  • Submit complete, accurate, and timely data to the MBSAQIP registry (100% case capture)
  • Analyze clinical outcomes and identify opportunities for quality and safety improvement
  • Serve as CHA’s liaison to the MBSAQIP program and maintain annual certification
  • Partner with surgical leadership and interdisciplinary teams on quality initiatives
  • Develop and maintain monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc reports
  • Ensure data integrity and compliance with federal, state, and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Contribute to data dictionaries, abstraction guidelines, and process improvement efforts
  • Manage multiple priorities, proactively identify barriers, and recommend solutions

Qualifications:

  • Direct clinical data abstraction experience required
  • Active MBS certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • Strong knowledge of clinical registries, abstraction guidelines, and EMR systems (EPIC preferred)
  • Advanced proficiency in data and reporting tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Smartsheet, Lucidchart)
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize data, identify trends, and make recommendations

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required (RN preferred; equivalent experience considered)
  • 3–5 years of chart abstraction experience required
  • Program or project management experience preferred
