Haley & Aldrich is looking to add new talent to our growing team. Haley & Aldrich is currently seeking a Senior Project Manager, Environmental Scientist, to work in a technical support and project manager role with highly skilled professionals on diverse project teams in a dynamic environment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing group and company and get involved in a variety of projects for a diverse range of clients. This is a full-time position located in the Portland, OR office.


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
In this position, you will:

  • Oversee day-to-day management of multi-disciplinary project teams with a focus on project delivery, quality, financial performance, and health and safety.
  • Hold primary responsibility for all aspects of the project life cycle including cost estimating and proposal preparation, scheduling, subcontracting, resourcing, project planning, execution, document preparation and review, and financial management.
  • Demonstrate strong technical competence, knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, and professional standards of practice.
  • Lead large, complex, or high-risk projects with multiple integrated services, and ensure those projects meet client and regulatory objectives.
  • Plan and manage site characterization programs, including developing work plans and coordinating field investigations (soil, sediment, surface water, groundwater, and soil vapor).
  • Lead technical evaluation and interpretation of site characterization data, develop conceptual site models, and coordinate with multidisciplinary team members to support project decision-making.
  • Lead and support remedial investigation/feasibility study (RI/FS) project execution, including scoping, cost estimating, field team coordination, data interpretation, risk assessment support, report preparation, and regulatory agency interaction/negotiations.
  • Manage and support environmental site assessment (ESA) and due diligence projects, including ASTM-compliant Phase I ESAs and Phase II ESAs to evaluate Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs).
  • Manage and support regulatory compliance and contaminated media management efforts, including Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) waste characterization/profiling, disposal permitting, and contaminated media management plan preparation.
  • Regularly and effectively communicate with clients, partners, subcontractors, regulators, and other stakeholders.
  • Regularly direct, coach, and support staff to deliver high-quality work products and meet project goals.
  • Plan and perform work in accordance with company and client health and safety protocols and demonstrate the company’s foundational safety behaviors.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Minimum Skills and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
  • 12 or more years of related work experience including direct project management experience.
  • Professional registration or certification, as applicable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently lead project teams to achieve project and client goals and objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and financial acumen.
  • Proficient computer literacy skills including use of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint) and the ability to learn various software needed to support financial management, diverse project needs, and client requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on interdisciplinary project teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science or related field.
  • Four or more years of project management and financial management experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER training and refresher updates.
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM).
  • Experience supporting Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Washington Department of Ecology, and United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) project coordination/negotiations.
