Job Summary
We are looking for anOutside Sales Representative to join our team! The position's primary goal is to sell plastic products, solutions, or capital equipment (molds) to manufacturers in various industries such as automotive, medical, and consumer goods for our blow and injection molding division.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development: Prospect and identify new business opportunities and potential clients (often a mix of new and existing business). This includes following up on leads from field activity, trade shows, and referrals.
- Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong, lasting relationships with customers to understand their unique business needs and propose tailored solutions.
- Technical Sales & Support: Act as a technical liaison between the customer and internal teams (e.g., engineering, production). This involves presenting machinery or product capabilities, reviewing part designs, tolerances, materials, and volumes, and providing post-sale support.
- Sales Process Management: Handle the entire sales cycle, including qualifying leads, presenting proposals, negotiating pricing and contracts, preparing quotes and sales agreements, and closing deals.
- Market Analysis & Reporting: Communicate market trends, pricing, and competitive information to internal teams. Document all sales activity and prospects using a company CRM system.
- Travel: Plan and execute regular travel within a defined territory to meet with current and potential customers.
Qualifications
- Experience: Typically requires 3-5+ years of B2B sales experience in the plastics industry, specifically within blow molding, injection molding, or PET. Experience in selling capital equipment is often beneficial.
- Technical Knowledge: A thorough understanding of the blow molding process, various plastic materials, equipment capabilities, and relevant quality standards (e.g., SQF, IMS) is essential.
- Sales Abilities: Proven ability to grow and manage a sales territory, achieve sales goals, and an aptitude for high-earning, high-stakes sales that involve significant engineering expertise.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills to effectively communicate with diverse clients and internal teams.
- Problem-Solving: The ability to identify customer issues and collaborate with operations to propose effective solutions, improve efficiency, and meet specific customer needs.
- Organization & Management: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage a robust sales pipeline and prioritize strategically.
