As a Power Systems Engineer in Camlin, you will work within a multi-disciplinary team of data engineers, software engineers and data scientists to deliver innovative solutions to support distribution network operatorsā (DNOs) business needs. You will act as a subject matter expert on the structure and operation of the distribution network within the team, develop load and fault network models to understand the behaviour and constraints on the network, and interface with customers to understand their requirements and communicate these clearly within the team.

Responsibilities
- Create, validate and maintain power systems network models, alongside documentation of associated methodologies, where required. āÆ
- Design, develop, document and test robust, efficient and novel algorithms for network analysis, optimisation and planning, to meet project requirements, consulting appropriate literature when required.
- Analyse field and time-series data to validate, troubleshoot and enhance the models and algorithms.
- Act as a subject matter expert on UK distribution power systems within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Communicate methodologies clearly to the teams responsible for their implementation.
- Manage time and priorities across projects, notify stakeholders of progress against plans and adapt readily to dynamic business priorities
Essential Criteria:āÆ
- Degree in Electrical Power Systems/Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent numerate discipline.
- Strong understanding of electric power distribution, electrical load behaviours, and the modelling of time-series demand/distributed generation patterns.āÆ
- Experience of performing steady-state, and/or transient power systems studies, e.g. load flow, short-circuit fault analysis and/or switching studies. āÆ
- Strong and proven numerical analysis skills, engineering mathematics and statistics.
- Proven ability to solve complex problems using creative solutions.
Desired Criteria:
- Masterās or PhD in Electrical Power Systems or Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of the UK distribution sector (EHV, HV, LV) and power system operation/planning.
- Experience with power system analysis and at least one modelling/simulation tool (e.g., PandaPower, PowerFactory, NEPLAN, WinDebut, IPSA, PSCAD).
- Understanding of challenges related to connecting large plant and embedded generation to UK distribution networks.
- Awareness of key industry standards and relevant parts of the UK Distribution Code, including ERECs.
- Python development experience.
- Experience with signal processing for analysing sampled data.
- Good understanding of software development principles, including version control tools (Git, SVN, etc.).
