About This Position

Position Title: Assistant Pool Manager

Reports To: Pool General Manager

Department: Food and Beverage

Shift: Varies

Role: The Assistant Pool Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe, clean, and enjoyable pool environment while delivering exceptional guest service. This role oversees pool operations and leads a team of Food & Beverage staff and cabana attendants, ensuring they are well‑trained, equipped, and able to respond to guest needs. The Pool Manager must demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication, and sound decision‑making skills, along with a solid understanding of pool maintenance and safety standards. A guest‑focused mindset and the ability to address concerns promptly and professionally are essential to providing an outstanding pool experience. Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience: Experience overseeing pool operations and leading guest‑facing teams in a hospitality or resort environment.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of pool safety protocols, water chemistry, and basic pool maintenance.
    • Ability to train, coach, and develop staff in safety procedures, service standards, and emergency response.
    • Exceptional guest‑service mindset with the ability to resolve complaints quickly and professionally.
    • Strong organizational and time‑management skills to coordinate staffing, inventory, and daily operations.
    • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies or high‑pressure situations.
    • Experience managing Food & Beverage operations in a pool or outdoor environment is a plus.
    • Proficiency in maintaining cleanliness standards and overseeing setup/breakdown of pool areas and cabanas.
    • Capability to collaborate with multiple departments, including Security, Engineering, and Housekeeping.
    • Ability to enforce rules and safety guidelines consistently while maintaining a friendly, welcoming presence.
    • Basic administrative skills, including documentation, reporting, and familiarity with scheduling or POS systems.
  • Required:
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.

Required Work Cards needed:

  • Valid Clark County Health Card
  • Valid Alcohol Awareness Card (TAM Card)
  • Valid Non-Gaming/Sheriffs Card

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Oversee daily pool operations, including cleanliness, water quality, safety protocols, and guest readiness.
  • Supervise lifeguards and pool attendants, ensuring they are well‑trained, well‑equipped, and consistently performing required duties.
  • Maintain accurate logs of pool attendance, water testing, incidents, and maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all pool equipment and systems are regularly inspected, properly maintained, and promptly repaired when needed.
  • Address guest questions, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive and safe pool experience.

Work is performed in a (type of location, i.e., office, kitchen, restaurant, casino, etc.) environment and in other locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. Additionally, smoking is permitted in casino areas consistent with Nevada state regulations, which are followed by the employer.

  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (five hours or more).
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, upscale environment.
  • Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Requires lifting items weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Requires eye/hand coordination.
  • May require use of standard office equipment. (Micros System)
  • May require basic math with the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.
  • Ability to and comply with Policies and Procedures, Job Description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (SDS) and other instructions.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals
