Boys Volleyball Varsity Head Coach

The Head Coach of Boys Volleyball will steward the athletic, personal, and spiritual growth of our student-athletes and prepare them for success, while contributing to the continued development of our successful volleyball program. The Head Coach will instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, student-athletes shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. The Head Coach reports to and works closely with the Athletic Director to determine goals and direction of the program. The Head Coach is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of every student-athlete participating in their program for Codman Academy. The public exposure of Codman’s athletic programs is a considerable responsibility and community/parent pressure for winning is taxing, but must not override the objectives of good sportsmanship, good mental health, our purpose in educational based activities along with the Hallmarks given to our community by Codman Academy.

Salary: $3,500 (stipend payments)

Preferred:

• Coaching experience at the Varsity level or competing at the High School/ Collegiate level.
• NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training, First AId/ CPR.

Head Coaches must show competency in the following:

• Proven experience in teaching and modeling character and responsible behavior.
• Positive, high energy, and committed.
• Partners with parents, staff, community leaders, etc.
• View success not just as winning, but as helping team members to reach goals.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

• Coordinates the training, instruction, conditioning, and selection of athletes at all levels within the program.
• Works in conjunction with the Athletic Director on a yearly schedule.
• Attends all athletic department and league meetings
• Communicates regularly with athletes, parents and athletic department staff.
