Locatedin Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses inWellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.


Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educationalcommunity and have a desire and ability to serve a population of students withvarious needs and backgrounds. Reporting directly to the Vice President forEnrollment Management, the Assistant Dean of Admissions provides strategicleadership, operational oversight, and hands‑on support for all admissionsfunctions at the college. This role plays a central part in shaping enrollmentstrategies, strengthening pathways for diverse student populations, andcultivating a well‑trained, positive, knowledgeable, and confident admissionsteam. Working closely with academic departments, student services, andcommunity partners, the Assistant Dean advances institutional enrollment goalsand promotes student success through a student‑centered, equity‑drivenadmissions philosophy.

In addition to ensuring that every prospective and admittedstudent experiences a welcoming, supportive, transparent, and equitable pathwayfrom inquiry through enrollment, the Assistant Dean fosters a culture ofcollaboration, continuous improvement, and shared accountability across thedivision. This leader values cross‑departmental partnerships, supportsprofessional growth among staff, and contributes to initiatives that enhancestudent persistence and long‑term success.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Strategic Leadership & Enrollment Management

  • Support the Vice President for Enrollment Management by advancing MassBay’s mission, vision, and goals through policy development, strategic leadership, and direction for the Office of Admissions;

  • Supervise the admissions leadership team across all three campuses (Wellesley, Framingham, and Ashland) and provide coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities;

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and service‑oriented team culture;

  • Develop and execute comprehensive enrollment and admissions strategies aligned with the college’s mission, equity goals, and strategic plan;

  • Use data analytics to forecast enrollment trends, identify equity gaps, and inform strategic interventions;

  • Establish and track annual enrollment goals and admissions KPIs with a focus on access, yield, and student retention;

  • Represent the Admissions Office on committees, task forces, and cross‑departmental initiatives;

  • Work collaboratively with college departments and divisions for planning, coordinating, implementing, and assessing admissions recruitment and student engagement strategies in accordance with the College’s Strategic Plan;

  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications Office to create and update branded collateral for print, e-mail, and digital;

  • Create a clear and comprehensive admissions communication plan and flow that spans every stage of the enrollment funnel (prospect to enrolled student);

  • Resolve complex student concerns and serve as an escalation point for admissions‑related issues;

  • Develop and supervise recruitment activities targeting various populations, including adult learners, first‑generation students, dual‑enrollment students, and underserved communities.

Student-Focused Care & Access

  • Ensure admissions processes are transparent, user-friendly, and accessible to students of all backgrounds and abilities;

  • Design and implement onboarding systems that reduce administrative barriers and promote smooth transitions from application to enrollment;

  • Partner with Advising, Financial Aid, Accessibility Resources, Student Development, and other student support teams to ensure coordinated care for incoming students;

  • Ensure prospective students receive timely, accurate, and supportive guidance throughout the admissions process;

  • Represent the college at recruitment events, high school visits, workforce development partnerships, and community organizations;

  • Build strong relationships with local schools, community agencies, and employer partners to expand access pathways.

Admissions Operations, Policy Development, andCompliance

  • Oversee the ongoing implementation of the college’s CRM, Slate;

  • Oversee daily operations of the Admissions Office, including application processing, evaluation, residency determination, and admissions decisions;

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and student-centered communication regarding application status and next steps;

  • Maintain comprehensive and up‑to‑date documentation of all admissions processes and provide continuous training to ensure staff are informed, prepared, and aligned with current practices;

  • Manage the admissions budget and allocate resources strategically to enhance student support;

  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and reporting requirements;

  • Regularly review policies to remove unnecessary barriers and promote equitable access;

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes affecting admissions practices;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, public administration, or a related field;
  • 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in admissions, enrollment management, or student services;

  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate staff;

  • Strong commitment to access, equity, and serving diverse student populations;

  • Experience with a student information system and CRM platform;

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills;

  • This position requires occasional evening and weekend work; local travel is required for recruitment events and active engagement with community partners.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;

  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;

  • Experience working in a community college or open‑access institution;

  • High level of experience with a student information system and CRM platform, preferably PeopleSoft and Slate;

  • Leadership experience in a unionized environment;

  • Bilingual or multilingual abilities;

  • Knowledge of regional workforce needs and community partnerships.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $110,000 - $120,000
