Job Description
The Career Advisor guides and supports customers who are looking to gain employment or need support services to become job ready. The Career Advisor assists clients in career exploration, job preparation, and job search activities to ensure successful employment outcomes. The Career Advisor is also responsible for assisting jobseekers who apply for Individual Training Grants (ITG) to gain certifications and/or licenses to further their careers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual assessments to understand job seekers' skills and work history and make recommendations to help them attain career goals.
- Conduct orientations to introduce and explain available Workforce1 services
- Assist jobseekers in applying for and obtaining available training grants.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on customer training grant progress and placements of training grant recipients.
- Assist job seekers in creating and updating resumes and cover letters.
- Offer interview preparation, including mock interviews and follow up.
- Teach job search techniques on various job board platforms to job seekers.
- Use career assessment tools to evaluate job seekers' job readiness level.
- Facilitate career exploration activities to help job seekers identify suitable career paths.
- Provide information on local labor market trends and in-demand industries.
- Accurately enter and update confidential jobseeker information into database.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and/or MS 365.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Strong data entry skills and ability to maintain confidential information.
- Ability to motivate and inspire job seekers.
- Bilingual a plus.
Salary Range: $50,000 per year
