Our work is mission-critical, supporting the U.S. Navy and strengthening national security.

Electric Boat Corporation (EB) is seeking a well-versed engineer for the Availability Support Team (AST) within Planning Yard Fleet Support and Systems Engineering, Department 468. This full-time position located in North Stonington, CT will support commissioned U.S. Navy submarines with the planning, execution, and certification of ongoing fleet maintenance and Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) availability work.

About Department 468 - Planning Yard Fleet Support and Systems Engineering
Department 468 is within EB’s Life Cycle Support directorate and is responsible for non-nuclear technical support for commissioned VIRGINIA, OHIO, and SEAWOLF Class submarines for maintenance planning and execution, in areas of drawing and material support, configuration management, and certification. The AST plays a key role in providing this support to multiple US Navy stakeholders for submarine maintenance periods at Naval Shipyards (NSYs) and maintenance facilities.

Role Overview

This includes executing action plans utilizing teams of engineers, designers, and technical support personnel. This will require a good understanding of drawing, Engineering Report, Liaison Action Request (LAR), Departure from Specification (DFS), and Ship Alteration (ShipAlt) processes, including TVD documentation, and Engineering Configuration Management requirements. The engineer will be required to assist in the resolution of ongoing/emergent issues using independent judgement and vision for new processes and products.

This position may require occasional travel to Portsmouth Naval Shipyard (ME), Norfolk Naval Shipyard (VA), Washington Engineering Office (DC) and other customer locations.
