System Administrator at GreenSlate – Cartago, Valle del Cauca
About This Position
The System Administrator will collaborate with our IT team to support and strengthen GreenSlate's technical infrastructure, contributing to day-to-day operations while growing into more complex DevOps and cybersecurity responsibilities over time. The ideal candidate is curious and eager to develop hands-on experience at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, security, and automation - someone who takes ownership of their work, documents what they learn, and is excited to contribute to meaningful projects in a fast-moving, remote-first environment.
This role is remote within Costa Rica.

WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU- Infrastructure & Systems
- System Administration: Apply your foundational knowledge of enterprise Windows and Linux system administration to support servers, containers, and third-party solutions, following infrastructure-as-code principles and maintaining configuration consistency across environments.
- DevOps Practices: Support the implementation of automated provisioning workflows and security hardening standards, and assist in the development of CI/CD pipelines that help improve how we build, secure, manage, and maintain company infrastructure.
- Networking: Leverage your working knowledge of TCP/IP networking — including routing, switching, VLANs, and VPN tunneling — to deliver reliable, segmented network services that support both employee productivity and security posture.
- Cloud & Automation
- AWS Operations: Support our AWS environment using and services including EC2, EKS, S3, IAM, Control Tower, and CloudWatch, with a focus on applying least-privilege access principles and maintaining compliance guardrails using infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus
- Scripting & Automation
- Write and maintain scripts in Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate repetitive tasks, reduce manual toil, and improve operational efficiency across the team.
- Security Operations
- Participate in security operations activities including vulnerability scanning, patch lifecycle management, log analysis, and response to escalations from our managed security provider, helping to maintain a strong security baseline across the environment.
- Compliance Awareness
- Support audit-readiness activities and follow established security runbooks, escalation procedures, and change management processes aligned with frameworks such as SOC 2 and NIST CSF.
- Team & Project Collaboration
- Helpdesk Escalations: Receive and resolve ticket escalations from the helpdesk team, providing hands-on technical assistance with complex issues while documenting resolutions to build team knowledge and reduce repeat escalations.
- Project Execution: Partner with the IT Manager to translate project plans into executable tasks — contributing to sprint planning, tracking work to completion, and applying agile or structured project methodologies appropriate to the initiative.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with Engineering, Finance, and People Operations to identify automation and process improvement opportunities, with an emphasis on reducing manual toil and improving auditability.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures, and internal documentation that support operational consistency, faster incident response, and smoother onboarding for future team members.
- Vendor Coordination: Identify, evaluate, and coordinate with external technology vendors and managed service providers, helping to assess security posture, SLA alignment, and fit with GreenSlate’s existing toolchain.
- Technology Awareness: Stay current on emerging technologies, threat trends, and DevOps best practices — proactively identifying opportunities to improve our infrastructure, automation capabilities, or security controls.

- The ability to document work, and create How-To and SOP documentation based on your work and your findings.
