POSITION TITLE: Director of Men's Basketball

POSITION FUNCTION:
The Big 12 Conference seeks a highly organized and driven professional to serve as the Director of Men's Basketball Operations. Reporting to the Chief of Basketball Operations and working in close coordination with the Vice President of Women's Basketball, this role is a key operational lead responsible for the management and execution of conference basketball initiatives. The successful candidate will ensure a consistent, elite-level experience across all competitions, supporting the continued growth and innovation of Big 12 basketball in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Championship & Event Management
• Championship Execution: Support and coordinate on-site operations for the Big 12 Basketball Championships, including planning, team logistics, and game administration.
• Media Days: Lead the coordination of logistical elements for basketball media days.
• Cross-Sport Support: Provide operational support for women's basketball championship preparation and other conference championships/events as assigned.
Regular Season & Game Operations
• Scheduling: Support regular-season scheduling, including the coordination of complex logistics and institutional communication.
• Institutional Liaison: Act as the day-to-day operational contact for institutional directors of basketball operations, game managers, and administrative staff.
• Performance Monitoring: Monitor games throughout the season to provide observations and feedback regarding game administration, officiating flow, and operational consistency.
• Systems Management: Manage relationships with basketball technology and service providers (video, officiating, and player availability systems).
Officiating & Replay Operations
• Officiating Support: Assist with the operational elements of the officiating program, including assignment logistics and communication.
• Replay Coordination: Support the coordination and potential operation of the Conference's replay system.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
• 2–4 years of practical experience in athletics operations and administration.
• Preferred: Direct experience working within a collegiate athletic department or conference office.
• Communication: Strong writing and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with coaches, administrators, and staff.
• Organization: High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
• Adaptability: Proven ability to execute in a fast-paced environment and maintain strong professional relationships under pressure.
• Availability: Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, with travel required for regular and postseason events as needed.
EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's Degree required. A degree in Sport Management, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Office environment. Frequent sitting, standing, walking bending, listening, speaking, and use of office equipment. Some requirements for lifting, pushing, or pulling items less than 30 pounds. Ability to work long non-standard hours, including holidays, nights, weekends, game days or other event dates.
