About This Position
The Machine Automation Technician will provide day-to-day technical issue resolution and drive continuous improvement activity.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists Business Unit Leader in leading the team in pursuit of company and team goals from a technical standpoint as it relates to safety, quality, delivery & cost.
- Assisting with training and skill development of team members with the Business Unit Leader.Develop an understanding of the cost for manufacturing, including tooling, equipment, etc., and develop action plans for cost and productivity improvements. Leads all root cause & corrective action activities in conjunction with Production Quality Engineer. Ensure that technical problem-solving tools are being used effectively within the assigned Business Unit.Assists with maintaining production by operating a machine when needed. Serve as back-up Business Unit Leader as needed.Manage projects assigned by management to assure on time and within budget completions.Initiate and/or oversee continuous improvement Create work instructions and misc. documentation for machines and provide necessary training as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- High degree of mechanical skills, including 3-5 years of hands-on machine building experience and familiarity with a manufacturing environment.General understanding of servo motors, PLC, pneumatic and hydraulics, mechanical systems, automation build and troubleshooting of these items.Basic computer knowledge (i.e. Microsoft office, PLEX, ERP, etc.) Ability to read blueprints, and understanding GD&T.Demonstrated experience leading technical root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
REQUIRED INTERPERSONAL & BEHAVIORAL SKILLS:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.High degree of problem-solving abilities. Superior work ethic and High energy level.Demonstrated positive attitude and ability to work effectively with others.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to work well with other departments (i.e., Engineering, Toolroom, Quality)Demonstrated Safe work history.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
- B.S. degree in manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, or industrial engineering, or Journeyman Machine Builder status.
